Frequently asked questions
Twelve of the questions we get asked most often. Can't see yours? Give us a call.
A chip is a small impact mark, usually under a 20-cent coin. Chips can almost always be repaired in about 20 minutes. A crack is a line that spreads across the glass — anything longer than around 15 cm, in your line of sight, or reaching the edge of the windscreen usually means a full replacement.
Chip repair takes around 20 minutes and is walk-in. A full windscreen replacement is 2–3 hours, by booking. ADAS calibration is included with replacements where required and adds a short additional check.
No booking needed for chip repairs — turn up at the Paeroa workshop or any of our gazebo locations during the day. Replacements need a booking so we have the right glass on hand. Call 021 617 664 or use the online booking form.
Most comprehensive policies in New Zealand cover windscreen repair and replacement, often with no excess. We handle the paperwork with your insurer directly — bring your policy details and we take it from there.
We work with all major NZ insurers including AA Insurance, State, Tower, AMI, Vero and IAG. If you're insured elsewhere, give us a call — we almost certainly cover you too.
ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — features like lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Many modern cars have a camera mounted behind the windscreen for these systems. When the windscreen is replaced, the camera has to be recalibrated so the safety systems work correctly. We include calibration with every replacement that needs it.
Yes — after a chip repair you can drive straight away. After a replacement we ask you to wait around an hour before driving so the urethane adhesive cures properly. We'll let you know exactly when you're good to go.
Paeroa workshop is open Monday to Friday at 6 Puke Road. The yellow gazebo visits Thames (Tuesdays), Ngatea (Wednesdays), Waihi (Thursdays) and Te Aroha (Fridays) — see the schedule page for exact locations. Schedule is approximate and weather-dependent.
Yes. Side window and rear window replacements are available by booking at the Paeroa workshop. Give us a call with your vehicle details so we can order the right glass.
For chip repairs at gazebo locations we wait out short showers or move under cover. If the weather is bad enough that we can't work safely we'll let you know and rebook. Replacements always happen indoors at the Paeroa workshop, so weather isn't an issue.
We accept cash, EFTPOS and Afterpay. If your job is covered by insurance there's usually nothing for you to pay at all.
Yes. All workmanship is guaranteed. Chip repairs are guaranteed not to spread for the life of the windscreen. Replacements come with a lifetime workmanship guarantee against leaks and wind noise.
